The 'Claim Form' is the document which starts Tribunal proceedings. The
person bringing the claim (who in most cases will be the employee) is
known as the Claimant.
The person defending the claim (usually the
employer) is known as the Respondent. Claims can be issued against
more than one Respondent. This is often the case in discrimination
claims where proceedings are brought against the employer and also
against any individuals who carried out the discriminatory act.
